3 Steps for better understanding with your boss

Brief:

Before, I jump onto 3 steps for better understanding with your boss, let me first make you understand where and how these can be applied.

You know that, two relationships in this world which mattered the most to you and had the most number of misunderstandings are:

  1. Your Supervisor/ Manager
  2. Your Spouse

And how many times have you found yourself unable to either understand what they are saying or what is understood by them.

When Virginia Satir, the famous American psychotherapist created her magic in Family Therapy, she used very specific techniques  to create harmony in relationships.

After Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) was coded and now we have nlp courses online, and nlp certification online. There are hundreds of Best NLP Practitioners in India, however, best nlp trainer in India which I have come across is Ridhima. She is very well versed with nlp techniques & concepts. She uses the same day in and day out.

Here are the 3 steps for better understanding with your boss:

1. Check your (self) representational system: Representational Systems are how you process the world in that context. We have Visual, Auditory and Kinesthetic Representational Systems. Let me make this more clear.

When you are into a discussion with your boss, are you using more words like see, look, colors, picture, show, visualise, etc?

Or are you using more of words like hear, say, speak, music, melody, noise, lecture, speech, etc.

Or are you using words like feel, heavy, light, throbbing, pulsating, hot/cold, moving, doing, going, shaking, working, etc.

Note: Observe the words you are using while communicating with your boss.

2. Check their (boss) representational systems: When you are in a discussion with your boss, what words he/she is using while communicating. (Visual, Auditory or Kinesthetic words)

3. Use their system (your boss system): As you are the one who will now know this technique, the control is now in your hands.

For example: You are having a meeting with your boss and the boss is framing sentences like how does this look like? Can you see this? If we make these changes in our presentation will it work? Now, you know from the conversation that the boss is more into visual context and he wants you to see and then, answer.

Conclusion:

What should you do now? Yes, you guessed it right. You should frame your sentences and have conversation with your boss like yes sure, I can definitely see it. This looks amazing, however, to make it more effective we can have these changes to it. I would be more than happy if you mail this across to me and I will have a look.

Hope you liked and understood the 3 steps for better understanding with your boss.

So much research has gone into these techniques over the years. Ridhima has been working with lot of NLP Practitioners, NLP Coaches and NLP Trainers. I have found that understanding representational Systems is the very foundation of Neuro-Linguistic Programming. Once you have the foundation strong, your practise as a Coach, Trainer or Life Coach becomes effortless and fluid.
